Crack! The big branch split off its tree.
Boom!  It crashed to the ground.
Whoosh! The stones near the branch started shifting, pushing the little brown rock to the edge of the steep slope. 
Bam-bam-bam-bam! The little brown rock rolled and rumbled down the hill, kicking and being kicked by the other stones, until they all reached the bottom.
Little Brown Rock wasn’t happy. When he lived under the tree there was pleasant shade, soft grass, and comfy moisture. Now all he could see were only the other rocks, rough and rugged, exposed to the harsh beams of the sun. Little Brown Rock sat there contemplating his sad predicament when suddenly he heard a weak moaning: “He-elp, he-elp…”
“Where are you?” asked Little Brown Rock.
“I am underneath the big rusty piece of metal, look to your right,” said whoever it was. “Please move this thing and help me to get out.”
“I don’t know, man,” replied Little Brown Rock. “It’s heavy.”
“Help me, and I’ll do anything you want: I am a magic stone,” the being underneath the piece of metal kept insisting.
“Never heard of magic stones,” mumbled Little Brown Rock as he pushed himself towards the heavy thing. “OK. I’ll help you.”
Little Brown Rock gathered all his might and shoved the weight off. A small purple pebble emerged from the cavity and thanked Little Brown Rock profoundly.
“In exchange for your kindness, I’ll fulfill any desire you might have,” said the pebble. “Tell me, what it is.”
“Wow!” Little Brown Rock was quite surprised. “Let’s see… I am so dark and ugly…”
“But you’re not, believe me,” Magic Stone interrupted him. “If you search and look inside yourself…”
“Oh, save your breath,” snorted Little Brown Rock. “Inside of a stone is a stone, nothing else. Cold as a stone, dead as a stone, stiff as a stone – what a life!” And after a small pause he added: “I know what I want. I want to be a living creature, I want to be… a mushroom!”
“All right. Your wish is granted,” said Magic Stone.
“Wait,” exclaimed Little Brown Rock. “One more thing: make me white.”
